Marko Prorocic
Elected Staff Member (Professional Services/Support Staff)
Marko Prorocic has been with the Ayrshire college since 2016, starting in Curriculum as a Science Lecturer, progressing to Curriculum Manager (Engineering and Science), and then moving to Support staff in 2022, initially as a Work Based Assessors Team Leader and currently as a Work Based Assessors Team Leader (STEM).
Through these roles he has developed a detailed understanding of day-to-day operational workings of the college, keen insight into its working culture, as well as expertise in curriculum design, maintaining academic quality, vocational assessment and verification, building teams and establishing systems, processes and technical solutions, improving service delivery, and experience working with a range of stakeholders at a local and national level, recently attaining a Chartered Manager status.
Prior to working at a college, Marko worked as a research scientist, both in academia and industry, mainly as a genetic engineer/microbiologist. He holds a range of Science degrees (B.Sc(Hons) Molecular Genetics, M.Res and a PhD in Molecular Biology), a PGDE (GTCS registered Secondary teacher for Biology and Chemistry) and acts as a SQA External Verifier and Senior External Verifier.
In his spare time, he likes to garden, make beer or cider, prepare elaborate meals and enjoys a good book.
