What apprentices do
Apprentices combine paid employment with structured learning, gaining valuable skills and industry experience while working towards a recognised qualification. Training arrangements vary depending on the employer and apprenticeship programme and may include day release to college (for example, one day per week or block-release attendance). All apprentices benefit from hands-on experience, guidance from experienced professionals, and opportunities to develop their technical and professional skills.

Who it's for
Apprenticeships are open to people of all ages and backgrounds, whether they are starting their career, looking to upskill, or changing direction professionally. Apprentices develop their skills and knowledge through a combination of workplace experience and formal training, meaning prior experience levels can vary. When recruiting an apprentice, employers can choose candidates whose qualities, potential and career aspirations best match the needs of their business, while supporting them to learn and grow on the job.
