Life Sciences
This Modern Apprenticeship helps employees gain skills and knowledge they need for roles in life sciences and its related industries. It’s offered at two levels to support new entrants and the upskilling of existing teams. The apprenticeship covers the traditional healthcare aspects of life sciences, as well as related science areas such as industrial, marine, plant, environmental and veterinary biotechnology. Your employee will study for a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6 or 7.

What apprentices do
Apprentices combine paid employment with structured learning, gaining valuable skills and industry experience while working towards a recognised qualification. Training arrangements vary depending on the employer and apprenticeship programme and may include day release to college (for example, one day per week or block-release attendance). The level of training, mentoring and workplace support will differ between employers, but all apprentices benefit from hands-on experience, guidance from experienced professionals, and opportunities to develop their technical and professional skills.

Apprentices develop their skills and knowledge through a combination of workplace experience and formal training, meaning prior experience levels can vary.
