If you’d like to work in a bakery or kitchen, then this course is a great place to start!
This foundation course is ideal for learners who are new to bakery and cookery.
Skills
Kitchen based and organisational skills will be developed along with key Metaskills such as Adapting, Collaborating, Communication, Creativity, Leading and Initiative.
Entry requirements
For this course you’ll need:
- National 3 qualifications in Maths and English or to have completed a relevant SCQF 3 course, or equivalent.
If you don’t have formal qualifications, but have appropriate experience or training, then we’ll also consider you for a place, so please do apply.
Course content
- Hands on learning: develop cooking techniques and gain front of house skills in our training kitchens and restaurants.
- Cooking: create delicious dishes ranging from homemade burgers to apple crumbles, and even master the art of baking bread.
- Service skills: develop customer care and other service skills, including coffee making, in our training restaurant.
Careers and Further Study
On completion of this course you may:
- Progress to our January Start Part 2 Introduction to Professional Cookery Level 4 course.
- Further down the line options are Food and Beverage Service, Professional Cookery (Level 5) or NC Bakery.
